In 2015 we launched the Mobile Eye Clinic to help address the staggering demand for eye care services in Fiji.
With a full range of medical equipment aboard, the Mobile Eye Clinic is a one-stop-shop for free eye checks, cataract surgery, diabetes eye disease laser treatment, and services for a range of other eye conditions. This means it can stay in a location for longer than our outreach team, giving patients in remote areas better access to free high-quality eye care.
“We know that for transport and financial reasons, there are patients who simply can’t reach us. So we’re taking our clinic straight to our patients instead.”

In November 2017 the FIJI Water Foundation made the incredibly generous donation of a prime mover truck — giving the Clinic its own means of transport. This gift will not only give the Clinic greater reach throughout Fiji but will also increase its reliability and cost effectiveness by removing the need to hire a transporter and eliminating the ongoing cost involved in doing so.

2018 yielded a 30% increase in the number of patients treated compared to 2018:
Importantly, our data shows that the Mobile Eye Clinic is also reaching patients that traditionally have not been able to access eye care services, due to living in remote locations far away from other eye care services.
